29 września 68 urodziny obchodził Lech Wałęsa – najbardziej znany i rozpoznawalny na całym świecie Polak (obok papieża Jana Pawła II).

Przyjęcie urodzinowe w gronie najbliższych odbyło się w restauracji „Gdańska” przy ul. Św. Ducha. Dla jubilata wystąpili: Capella Gedanensis, Konstanty A. Kulka i solistka opery w Barcelonie Monika Czudai. Wykład o tematyce kulinarnej wygłosił doc. Henryk Lewandowski. Jubilat, mimo pracowitego dnia, był w dobrej kondycji i wytrwał do 21.30. Z podanych przysmaków chwalił najbardziej flaczki a,la Wałęsa. Najbardziej oryginalny prezent b. prezydent RP otrzymał z inicjatywy prezydenta Gdańska Pawła Adamowicza i posła Jerzego Borowczaka, a był nią gipsowy posąg L. Wałęsy ustawiony na miejscu zdjętego i remontowanego Neptuna.
Urodzinom Lecha Wałęsy towarzyszyły dwa inne jubileusze: 30-lecia Capelli Gedanensis oraz 15-lecia Wyższej Szkoły Turystyki i Hotelarstwa, której H. Lewandowski jest wykładowcą.
